Edison Greenfest 2009!!!

Well, I just came from the first annual Edison Greenfest in Naples, Florida. It was great. It was small but it was well done. It certainly help spread news of renewable energy to those who attended. The show had its pretty standard members that came. People selling their solar panels and solar hot water systems and green builders were among those with booths. None stood out from the pack which in a way could be looked at as a good thing. Everyone had a fair chance to shine. There was one man that did stand out though.

His name was Jason Szumlanski and he developed the AMP SYSTEM Alternative Mobile Power System. (www.alternativemobilepower.com) Picture a uhaul trailer with a PV panel on the roof. Of course, it looks much better than that but essentially he has turned a enclosed trailer into a mobile solar power station. He has 4 panels on the roof and 4 on the side that collect all the energy needed. Inside the trailer he has battery bank of 16 batteries that store the energy. They are attached to a breaker box and a large assortment of outlets that he can position outside the trailer. With his AMP system he can supply power anywhere the sun shines. He can simply drive to where power is needed, unhitch the trailer, plug the items he needs to power into the outlets and let the sun do the rest. To see more info you should visit his website. This is not the first of its kind but the way he had his unit displayed with the tv and stereo system made it a great headturner. He also has a nicely designed storage area and electrical system. This is the best I've seen so far. This would be a great system for mobile police command centers, weddings and fairs, or construction sites that are not on the power grid yet. Really it is a perfect system for anyone that likes to go camping but also have power. There is plenty of space for your tents and gear, and you can bring the power to the woods. Since only about 30% of the interior of the trailer is filled with the batteries it leaves a lot of room for him to shrink the system down (providing he can still have enough space for all his PV panels) or to beef the system up. The possiblities are endless. The point is, renewable energy does not always mean you just power your house. It truly can be used anywhere, because it is everywhere.
